The
Government
A 'Council of Three'
occasionally meets if there has to be made an important decision concerning
their town. Zzsh'eth is the one deciding about minor problems and wishes
of the inhabitants since she is the eldest of this Council and this is
the traditional way in Naczach'sh. Fights and trouble with messengers etc.
coming from Hasst to bring orders of the government of Tahnn usually take
place very openly - the Government is far away and the people here consider
the problems of the town THEIR OWN problems but not those of the government.
Protection and
Law
The towers guarding
the Viper Pass of course also protect the nearby town. But since those
guards cannot be everywhere the inhabitants have established a militia
on their own. A couple of guard posts in the scattered about the city,
placed at strategically important places like the skirts open to the desert,
the marketplace, the caravanserai and the government building. Thieves
and such 'unimportant' law-breakers are sentenced immediately by the guard
captains; those having performed severe crimes are taken to court and sentenced
by the judge - the mothers mother Ichrizhh Akshathh. It is rumored that
law-breakers aren't always treated fair and that the punishment is often
depending on her mood - so BETTER TAKE CARE OF YOUR STEPS AND ACTIONS IN
THIS TOWN!
"Scroll
of Law"
(excerpt from
the 'Scroll of Law' written by the members of the first Council the town
established and the first judge they summoned to perform that
job)
It is incredibly
forbidden to:
-
steal anyone's possession(s)
even if you have to starve from hunger otherwise.
-
perform any magical
act in public
-
perform any magical
act that affects anyone else than you - EVEN if you are healing someone
else. If someone has to die then it is the will of Sun and no one shall
intervene the decisions and actions of The God.
-
possess any item that
is in any way magical - even if you do NOT know about it this will be punished
hard.
-
USE any magical item
- guards are allowed to kill you without taking you to the Court. The judge
must not waste time with those who have sentenced themselves to death by
ignoring the laws of Naczach'sh.
insult a mother*
(see Naczach'sh home page for definition in Ss'tiss terms) - even foreigners
will not be forgiven an insult since this is just not the way anyone may
treat an honored member of the Ss'tiss society. Merely a child that might
not yet have been taught to respect the mothers can be forgiven this crime.
