Lirynn Survivor
- By Sojin

Slowly and deliberately, a middle-aged elf walks up the stairs sung into the back of a large stump, which serves as an oratory to the court of Lirynn.  Methodically, he casts his gaze about, his eyes, bluer than the purest, most flawless sapphire, seeming to make contact with every being in attendance.  Two other beings flank the flawless speaker, one to a side, on his left an elfin woman, to his right a human male.  By their garb, they are obviously priests of the Church of Telgard.  He waits for the gathering throng to quiet, as sentences of gossip are dropped mid-word, and each person in turn is caught up in the sheer charisma of the man about to speak.  Only when the entire glade is hushed does Nynèl’shian, the Siril’veren and Monarch of the Kingdom of Lirynn begins to speak.

“Greetings all!  Today, I bring you exciting news, the like of which you’re not likely to hear were you to live three elfin lifetimes!”

Waiting for the applause to die down, the regal being continues, his tone now more solemn.

“As you all know, our dear town of Na’el was raked by the unconscionable tongues of fire!”  The last word is almost spat in anger.  Again adopting his more cheerful demeanor, he guides his unsuspecting audience through the rolling gale of his speech.  “But the time for mourning is past!  Today we build a new Na’el, where the races can live in harmony, man and elf, dwarf and misharr, the ever welcome minotaurs, the ss’tiss and yes, even the goblins are welcome!  It is long time we dropped our harsh prejudices.”  The elfin priest visibly blanches at the forest-shattering pronouncement, but nonetheless curiously holds her tongue.

“As all good cities must have, as all powerful nations must have, so needs Na’el a new Bael’lian!  The mayor-ship can only be filled by one with incredible resourcefulness, one with a sense of the forest and what it means to be a citizen of Lirynn and of Telgard.  Our city’s leader will need the skills to survive in a fledgling environment and the charisma to win over their population!  The Bael’lian’s position has always and ever will be the product of an election by the people who he or she will oversee.  But recent history has shown us that the person voted in for new Na’el will need gumption, extraordinary above his peers.  For this reason I declare a contest for the seat of this interracial city.  By my pronouncement, and by the support of the holy Church of Telgard, I declare Survivor: Lirynn officially onset!”  With that, the ruler of Silverdawn and monarch of Lirynn turns to leave, letting the morass of bewildered races cheer his departure.

The priests add one comment before turning to leave, themselves. “Recruitment offices shall be set up in every city in every land!  Apply within any one of these bureaus.”

This is it!  For the first time in Telgard history, one player is going to be given a title!  The winner of Survivor: Lirynn will be given the mayor-ship of the hybrid city of Na’el and all the privileges and rewards that go along with the position.  The winner especially, but certainly every contestant as well, will learn new skills they might otherwise never have gained.  Other skills will advance at an astounding pace.  The Church is, of course, sponsoring the event, but all guilds will be watching with particular interest every player.  The benefits to the winner are enormous, but the rewards to every player are in a word… immense!  Every player is welcome to apply, new and old, skilled or rookie!  The wider the mix the better!  Even if you’re a brand new character, just accepted, you can apply and be accepted into the game!
