Known
by outsiders as "druids," these are solitary followers
who feel that Faeterna, the tree of life deserves the worship
and the other gods are secondary. Faeterna is the provider;
as are her offspring, the trees of the orchard, the grain
in the fields and the animals who give their lives so life
may sustain elsewhere. All life comes from her, and those
who show her disrespect are evil and should be dealt with
justly.
They
have no organized church or temples, preferring the cathedral
of the trees. Faeterna's Children disdain the use of weapons
and refined metals and prefer to use nature's own defenses
in the fight to save the trees. The priests usually learn
to shapeshift himself, heal wounds, effect the four elements,
sense emotions/intentions of sentient life, and specialize
in speaking and controlling plants and animals.
Of
all the heresies documented by the Church of Telgard, the
Children of Faeterna are the least repulsive. Most Brantars
look up on the Children as misguided. This is possibly due
to the fact that they still believe in the other gods, or
possibly to their rather peaceful nature.
The
Children of Faeterna are most common in Lirynn, despite the
former's vast majority of followers of the Church of Telgard.
This is due mostly to the relationship that elves have with
nature, and so it is easiest for the Children to flourish
here. The Children may also be found in decent numbers in
Mirg and in Korresh; few inhabit Garr or Tahnn, due to the
harsh environment.
