The goblins worship the jungle – the “Big Green” – as sentient Being. The jungle is commonly believed to have two aspects, or faces: one is the Green Mother (sometimes called Haskulet), which represents the life-giving, bountiful form of the jungle, the being that gives and sustains life. Its center of worship is located in the Church of the Green Mother, two miles outside of the Fortress of Krull. Heavily protected by a surrounding hedge maze, the church will admit only those worshippers it knows, or those who successfully pass certain tests. The Church has some contact with the Paladins of Dargotten, and may even host one or two. This is not, however, due to a compatibility of belief, but to convenience.

The jungle’s opposite aspect is the Mirg Serpent, the face of wisdom and death. It is not the same as the infamous Cult of the Wyrm, but certain Serpent worshippers are known to be sympathetic to the Cult’s aims. Worshippers meet in secret groves within the jungle, and Serpent worship is marked by occasional Great Hunts where animalistic packs of gone-wild worshippers called “Lost Ones” roam the Big Green in search of tasty travelers. Not all Serpent worshippers run in the packs, and many of them avoid the jungle on Hunt nights. It’s said in Krull that when certain taverns are packed full of an evening, get a clue and don’t go outside the walls.

Necessarily, worship of the Big Green and the Mirg Serpent are limited to Mirg. Goblins who have moved elsewhere rarely accord the same sentience to other forests or terrain, but commonly accept that there is still something there to respect, if nothing quite so powerful as in Mirg. Worshippers of the Big Green have most in common with the Children of Faeterna, though the goblins frequently find the Children too weak or wimpy.
