The
mighty dwarven race live and thrive in the cold mountains
of Garr. Their first and highest city is built both atop
and within a mountain peak. This place is called Korgarr
and can be reached by traveling up the Kir Pass and then
up a steep winding road to the gates of Rasken-dir. Bring
your winter clothing if you venture to this place. - Gorac

Overview
After
the Race Wars, the Dwarves were left, as all other races
were, to find their own place in this vast land called
Telgard. Their hearty natures allowed them to go where
none of the other races could survive: the harsh mountains
covered in snow, west of present-day Korresh. They began
their city of Korgarr, "Face of the Mountain", destined
to remain at the heart of Garr for centuries to come.
Still
weak from fighting when the Freeze came, the Dwarves sought
out protection. Perhaps it was luck; perhaps it was skill
of their leader; perhaps it was the guiding hand of Darggotten,
but in any case, they found a tunnel leading to a large
natural cavern within the protection of the mountain.
A natural spring ran through from the cold mountain snow
above, and the Dwarves found a place within the bowels
of the mountain that they could claim as their own.
Once
able to carve and build, the Dwarves enlarged their cavern,
built homes, and called their new home Durak-mar, meaning
"The Dwelling of the Path of the First." They did not
stop there, but went further, creating the lower district
of Dur-kal "The District of the Deep." They had no plans
on building further downwards, and they were happy with
their trio of districts. In later years the government
was finally stabilized, and the king took Dur-kal as his
home as the safest place in Korgarr Mountain against attacks.
Renamed Dur-kren, "Dwelling of the King", the Grand Palace
was begun there, and remains there to this day.
It
was much later that the Dwarves followed natural maze-like
tunnels down from Dur-kren in hopes of finding a new source
of metals or gems. What they found instead was a new cavern
containing a lake filled with mountain water than ran
through the Dwarven districts as well as natural hot water
from the earth below. This new cavern had been formed
naturally--but was not in a natural form. A strange race
peopled this cavern, living in domed homes, and speaking
jargon in high-pitched voices and odd gestures. Over time
it became clear that these people had been living there
for some time, and were a people to be respected for they
had high culture and new ideas. The Dwarves called them
the Delfae, or "Colored fairies" as their eyes were as
varied as the rainbow and the Dwarves became aware of
their love of magic. The name stuck, and the shy new people
slowly were introduced into the world of Telgard.
Currently
there are four main parts to Korgarr: the city and the
three underground districts. However, there are small
villages of both races through the mountain, and in surrounding
mountains. The Delfae live primarily in Dur-brek, "Dwelling
of the Sacrified" the Dwarven name of their district,
which was eventually adopted into Korgarr. However, they
now live also in Dur-kren, and many travel forth onto
the surface. Dur-kren is still home of the aristocrats
of Korgarr, as well as the most liberal-minded Dwarves
who live side-by-side with the liberal Delfae. Durak-mar
is the home of the common Dwarf and is where most of the
work takes place. It is also the location of the grand
Church of Telgard where one of the three main branches
of that religion is centered. Korgarr City is where all
air-polluting jobs take place and is where most festivals
and major events are centered. Its major feature is the
Arena.
