Throughout
Korresh the currency is Gold Crowns, Silver Marks, and Copper Pence. They
conform to the previously determined ratios of 1 gold = 20 silver = 100
copper.
There are a few aberrance's.
The first Baron of Kel got a bit full of himself and minted a solid gold
piece known as the Kel Crown (or Khirjan, after the Baron). It is worth
95 copper pence. There are not many of these coins in circulation. they
tend to go around mostly in Kel and it's environs.
Tiangchou is a bit
low on metal and so for transactions in the city that are over 1 Crown,
paper chits are used to stand in for the Crowns.
There are also a
number of old coins minted in Korresh at various times and various eras.
these are not in circulation and have no face value but can be sold for
the weight of precious metal they contain. There are rumors that old misers
at the time of the Plague of 502 AS, buried chests of these ancient coins
to protect their wealth in that time of chaos. When the miser died of plague,
or something else, the treasures remained hidden.
